Despite this, many communities continue to struggle with leveraging local resources effectively and remain reliant on external support. This community service initiative adopts the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach to enhance entrepreneurial capacities by harnessing local assets. The program involves several key stages: local asset identification, participatory planning, capacity-building workshops, business mentoring, and ongoing monitoring and evaluation. Data were collected through observations, structured interviews, and surveys to assess changes in knowledge, skills, and economic outcomes. Findings indicate substantial improvements in participants' entrepreneurial competencies, strengthened social networks, and increased business resilience, leading to reduced dependence on external aid. The ABCD approach demonstrates strong potential for mobilizing endogenous resources as a foundation for self-reliant and sustainable community economic development. This initiative offers a replicable model for supporting agribusiness development and holistic community empowerment.
Asni Lailatul Fitriani Safitri Syarif Hidayatullah Nurfauziah Mansur Moh. In the city of Palu, community service efforts through beach clean-ups aim not only to improve environmental cleanliness and health but also to encourage local economic growth, particularly through the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector. This article examines the relationship between the cleaning of Palu's coastline and the empowerment of local SMEs. In addition, this research also highlights the economic impact generated, both in the form of new job creation in the tourism and MSME sectors, as well as the increased attraction for tourists. Through a community service-based approach, this initiative is expected to strengthen the synergy between environmental conservation and sustainable economic development in Palu. The results show that beach cleanups not only contribute to environmental cleanliness but also provide opportunities for SMEs to grow and play a role in promoting a more sustainable economy.
Abdul Jalil Noval Irham Pakkawaru Nuriatullah Nurfitriani Indah Handayani Copyright (c) 2024 Abdul Jalil, Noval, Irham Pakkawaru, Nuriatullah, Nurfitriani, Indah Handayani https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 2024-12-31 2024-12-31 2 1 10 16 10.24239/jcsebif.v2i1.3918.10-16 Organic Fertilizer from Animal Waste: A Community-Based Economic Strategy for Sustainable Agriculture https://jurnal.uindatokarama.ac.id/index.php/jcsebif/article/view/3929
Effective animal waste management remains a persistent challenge in rural communities, often resulting in environmental degradation and economic inefficiencies. This community service program aims to empower local farmers and livestock keepers by promoting the conversion of animal waste (kohe) into organic fertilizer, thereby supporting sustainable and economically viable agricultural practices. Employing a Community-Based Research (CBR) approach, the program incorporated participatory training, technology transfer, and hands-on composting activities to build community capacity in organic fertilizer production. Data were collected through structured surveys, in-depth interviews, and laboratory analysis to assess improvements in knowledge, fertilizer quality, and economic outcomes. The results indicate a significant enhancement in participants’ understanding of waste management, with 75% demonstrating readiness to adopt the technology. Laboratory tests confirmed that the produced organic fertilizer met established quality standards, contributing to reduced reliance on chemical inputs, lower production costs, and improved soil fertility. Furthermore, the initiative stimulated local economic resilience by fostering new agribusiness opportunities. In conclusion, the CBR-driven model effectively integrates environmental sustainability with economic empowerment, offering a scalable and replicable strategy for community-led agricultural development.
Andini Mutiara Ramadani Mutiara Cantika Rini Fatimawali Asriyana S Kaseng Copyright (c) 2024 Andini, Mutiara Ramadani, Mutiara Cantika, Rini, Fatimawali, Asriyana S Kaseng https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 2024-12-31 2024-12-31 2 1 17 29 10.24239/jcsebif.v2i1.3929.17-29 What Role Does Service-Learning Play in Enhancing Vineyard Agro-Tourism in Duyu Village? https://jurnal.uindatokarama.ac.id/index.php/jcsebif/article/view/3881
This article presents a Community Service Program implemented in Duyu Village aimed at promoting the development of vineyard-based agro-tourism through the Service-Learning approach. The initiative responds to critical challenges faced by local farmer groups, particularly deficiencies in digital marketing and tourism management, which constrain their economic potential and sectoral growth. Employing a mixed-methods framework, the program engaged local farmers in a participatory needs assessment to identify existing gaps and co-develop targeted interventions. A series of workshops were conducted to build capacity in sustainable agricultural practices and digital marketing strategies, equipping farmers with the tools to effectively promote their vineyards as tourism destinations. Results demonstrate notable improvements in participants’ knowledge and skills, accompanied by increased income generated from agro-tourism activities. Nonetheless, constraints such as limited training duration and variable participant engagement were observed. Recommendations for future implementation include extending the duration of capacity-building sessions and establishing strategic partnerships with local stakeholders. Overall, this program underscores the effectiveness of integrating academic learning with community engagement in fostering sustainable rural tourism development.
Azim Meylisa Aulia Zalianti Sukmawati Dewi Salmita Fatma Copyright (c) 2024 Azim, Meylisa Aulia Zalianti, Sukmawati, Dewi Salmita, Fatma https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 2024-12-31 2024-12-31 2 1 30 38 10.24239/jcsebif.v2i1.3881.30-38 Training and Mentoring Youth in Flavored Banana Chip Production as a Rural Enterprise in Lang-Lang Village https://jurnal.uindatokarama.ac.id/index.php/jcsebif/article/view/3804
This training and mentoring program aims to strengthen the entrepreneurial capacity of youth in Lang-Lang Village, Singosari District, Malang Regency, through the production of flavored banana chips. Utilizing the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, the program identifies and leverages local assets particularly banana cultivation to develop value-added products. Participants received practical training in banana processing, flavor development, modern packaging techniques, and digital marketing. As a result, the youth improved their technical skills and successfully produced high-quality banana chips with innovative flavors such as chocolate and tiramisu. They also expanded market reach through platforms like Instagram and Shopee. The initiative not only enhances individual entrepreneurial competencies but also contributes to local economic development. This program exemplifies a sustainable and replicable model for community-based economic empowerment by promoting youth engagement, local resource utilization, and digital literacy in rural enterprise development.
Ayu Rannisa Putri Evania Suryaningsih Umi Masruro Muhammad Syauqillah Copyright (c) 2024 Ayu Rannisa Putri, Evania Suryaningsih, Umi Masruro, Muhammad Syauqillah https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 2024-12-31 2024-12-31 2 1 39 45 10.24239/jcsebif.v2i1.3804.39-45
