The Role of Artificial Intelligence in the Development of Islamic Education and Knowledge

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the development of Islamic education and knowledge within the context of the modern digital era. The integration of AI has transformed various educational sectors, including the field of Islamic studies, by enabling new methods of learning, data analysis, and knowledge dissemination. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with library research methods. This study analyzes various scholarly sources related to the application of AI in Islamic education, particularly its impact on learning processes, curriculum innovation, and accessibility of Islamic knowledge. The findings indicate that AI contributes significantly to enhancing the quality of Islamic education through intelligent tutoring systems, adaptive learning platforms, digital Quranic studies, and automated language translation of classical Islamic texts. Furthermore, AI facilitates broader access to Islamic knowledge and promotes critical, creative, and contextual learning among students. However, the implementation of AI also requires ethical considerations and alignment with Islamic values to ensure that technological advancement supports spiritual and moral development. Therefore, AI is not only a technological tool but also a strategic medium for empowering Islamic education in facing the challenges of the 21st century.
