The Role of Islamic Education in Shaping the Character of the Millennial Generation
Abstract
Islamic education holds a strategic role in shaping the character of the millennial generation as they face various challenges such as globalization, modernization, and moral crises. This study aims to examine the extent to which Islamic education contributes to character building among millennials through Islamic values like honesty, responsibility, tolerance, and discipline. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with literature review as the data collection method. The findings indicate that Islamic education, both formal and non-formal, plays a vital role in shaping the youth’s character, especially when implemented in a contextual and responsive manner to contemporary dynamics. Islamic education can serve as a moral and spiritual fortress in confronting information flows and cultural influences that are inconsistent with Islamic values.
