Abstract

This study aims to explore the integration of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary paradigms in Islamic education as a strategic effort to build synergy between religious knowledge, social sciences, and modern sciences (Sulaiman, 2019, p. 22). Contemporary Islamic education faces significant challenges in addressing the complexities of modern civilization, marked by technological disruption, value globalization, and crises of spiritual and ethical identity (Halim, 2021, p. 45). In this context, an approach that combines various disciplines is essential to create a more holistic and relevant model of Islamic education (Nasution, 2018, p. 78). Through a qualitative-descriptive literature review, this study examines the theoretical framework and integrative practices from multiple academic perspectives (Yusuf, 2020, p. 134). The findings indicate that the integration of interdisciplinary paradigms can build substantive connections between Islamic values and contemporary scientific developments, while the multidisciplinary approach enriches perspectives in addressing social and scientific issues contextually (Rahman & Fitri, 2022, p. 56). The synergy of these two approaches forms a crucial foundation for the transformation of Islamic education toward a just, inclusive, and sustainable civilization (Kusuma, 2017, p. 89). This study recommends the development of curricula and teaching methodologies based on knowledge integration as concrete steps to strengthen the role of Islamic education amidst the dynamics of the modern era (Zainal, 2019, p. 101).
