The Urgency of Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the Personalization of Islamic Learning in the Industry 5.0 Era
Abstract
The advancement of digital technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), is bringing significant transformation in education, including Islamic Religious Education (IRE) in the Industrial Revolution 5.0 era. AI integration in madrasah curricula enables adaptive personalized learning, increases student engagement, and strengthens digital literacy based on Islamic values. AI supports the development of interactive, efficient teaching methods, and assists teachers in enhancing their professionalism through customized digital training. Furthermore, technologies such as Islamic chatbots and AI-based Qur’an learning applications expand access and quality of religious education. However, AI implementation faces challenges like a not fully relevant curriculum, technology dependence, and limitations in resources and teacher competence. Therefore, a planned strategy and collaboration among educators, technology developers, and policymakers are needed to optimize sustainable AI integration. This research confirms the urgency of IRE adaptation to AI developments so that Islamic education remains relevant, inclusive, and capable of shaping a generation that is intellectually and spiritually intelligent in the digital era. AI integration is expected to be a bridge between Islamic values and technological advancement for the future progress of the ummah (Muslim community)
