Technological Innovation for the Advancement of the Ummah: Exploring the Role of AI in the Development of Muslim Societies
Abstract
This study adopts a descriptive qualitative approach using a literature review method to examine the role and potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in supporting the advancement of Muslim society. The results show that AI has been widely applied in various areas of Muslim life, particularly in education, digital da'wah, and the management of Islamic philanthropy such as zakat and waqf. In the educational context, AI facilitates Quranic learning through speech recognition and natural language processing, while in the field of da'wah, the use of chatbots and data-driven recommendation systems increases the effectiveness of disseminating religious information. However, the application of AI also raises ethical and theological challenges that need to be addressed wisely. Therefore, collaboration between religious scholars, academics, and technology developers is crucial to ensure that the use of AI aligns with Islamic values and the principles of maqasid sharia. This study confirms that AI has the potential to become a strategic tool in empowering the community in the digital era.
