The Role of the School Principle in Effectively Online Learning in the Covid-19 Pandemic Time at SMAN 4 Sigi

Abstract

The formulation of the problem in this article is (1) What is the role of the Principal in making online learning effective during the Covid-19 pandemic at SMAN 4 Sigi? (2) What are the obstacles faced by the Principal in making online learning effective at SMAN 4 Sigi? This article aims to (1) Describe the role of the Principal in making online learning effective. (2) Explain the obstacles faced by the Principal in making online learning effective. This research was conducted at SMAN 4 Sigi and the type of research used was descriptive qualitative. The data that the researchers obtained used the method of observation, interviews and documents. The research subjects were the school principal, vice principal of curriculum, teaching staff and students. This article concludes that school principals can streamline online learning by using several stages. As for the stages given by the Principal to Teachers such as giving Reprimands, Directions, Coaching and Improvements. The principal provides several stages with the aim that teachers can carry out online learning well and give assignments to students. The obstacles faced by the Principal in making online learning effective such as the mastery of technology owned by the teacher and some students are still lacking, economic factors from the parents of students, the independence of students while studying at home is not fully implemented well, in several villages does not have an internet network and teachers and students complain about an unstable network.
